Plasma Fibroblast

HOW IT WORKS…

Fibroblast is a relatively new innovation in the beauty industry but has been used for a number of years in Europe. The extremely accurate handheld device works by utilising the voltage in the air between its tip and the natural gasses emitted from our skin, to form a plasma charge. A small electrical arc is created and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. The tissues retract and tighten giving you more youthful-looking skin. Plasma treatment is a revolutionary method for a perfect facial rejuvenation. It is important to stress that plasma is a non-surgical technique where no scalpels or any other surgical instruments are used. Fibroblast is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to reduce the volume of excess skin. Low risk, minimal downtime and more affordable than surgery. Fibroblast Treatment is known for its success with Non-Surgical Eye Lifts, Tummy Tightening, Neck Tightening and so much more. The term “Soft Surgery” is used to describe the treatment because it delivers results similar to surgery, with no scalpel, stitches or bandages and minimal downtime. A minimally invasive procedure with much lower risk and at a more affordable price than the actual surgery.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

As Fibroblast is more than a simple tightening treatment (skin volume is actually reduced), the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of fibroblast are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further ageing, but the positive results should last years depending on the area treated. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the final results will be seen after 8 weeks. For some, an additional treatment may be required after 8 weeks for maximum results. Additionally, there are lifestyle factors that can prevent the result from lasting as long as they can, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, skin’s laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most clients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the course of the following 8 weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to get better results, although it is uncommon to require more than two treatments. Appointments must be spaced out by 8 weeks.

WHAT TO EXPECT-SIDE EFFECTS AND RISKS

Fibroblast has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature when done by a fully certified technician. Still the majority of clients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the 7-14 days following treatment. There will be small carbon crusts (little polka dots) in the treated area that will last 7-10 days before naturally lifting, revealing new pink skin beneath. Swelling in the eye area is to be expected for a few days following an upper eyelid treatment. To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation, follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your technician.

WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE?

● The client should be in good health at the time of the appointment, with no preexisting health conditions. If the client displays signs of cold or flu the treatment should be rescheduled.

● Clients skin should not be inflamed in the area we are treating prior to procedure.

● Clients prone to keloid scars are not ideal candidates.

● Clients with diabetes, healing disorders, pacemaker or lymphatic draining issues should not undergo treatment.

● Clients with a sunburn should postpone treatment.

● Clients who have a history of Hyperpigmentation / Hypopigmentation are not ideal candidates.

● The client must not display herpes (cold sores when working in the lip area) It is recommended they consult with their Doctor if prone to cold sores days prior to treatment and 4 days following treatment.

Fibroblast Treatment is not advised for those with very dark skin. This is because there is a higher risk of hyperpigmentation (dark spots) or hypopigmentation (light spots) following treatment. A patch test will be required for clients with darker skin tone.

PRE-PROCEDURE ADVICE

• Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, it is advised not to make social plans for the next few days following treatment.

• Please do not wear any makeup or have any grease or moisturising products the treatment area on the day of the procedure.

• Please inform your technician if you have taken aspirin, Ibuprofen or blood thinning medication within the two days leading up to procedure.

• Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.

• Do not drink alcohol the night before or drink any caffeinated drink before your treatment

• Be prepared for the area to be tender to touch for a few days following treatment.

• Any waxing should be performed at least 7 days before the procedure: Electrolysis no less than 15 days before the procedure.

DAY OF TREATMENT

On the treatment day, it is recommended that no make-up is worn on the treatment area. You may take an antihistamine 60 minutes prior to your appointment to help with swelling and continue to take antihistamines for 2-3 days following your appointment.

A numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for up to 30 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the fibroblast tip, spaced closely together. You may feel some heat in the treatment area, which may be uncomfortable and slightly irritating. Treatment time is usually between 10-40 minutes, depending on the size of the area.

Immediately after treatment, the area may be red and mildly swollen with small carbon crusts (spots). You may experience a sensation similar to a sunburn which will likely last a few hours/days. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 3-4 days. The carbon crusts will lift within 7-14 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following 8 weeks.

Following treatment you will be given thorough aftercare instructions to ensure that you see the best results. . In the week following treatment (or until the treatment area has fully healed) an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used. Instead, opt for a pH balanced soap and avoid rubbing the area.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

• It is normal for the skin to be red around the area of treatment but also white around the area where the anaesthetic cream. This should only last a few hours.

• Rarely numbness and/or tingling over the site of treatment may occur for a few days.

• Avoid applying makeup, unless medication concealer, over the treatment sites for 48 hours. Also do not use creams/moisturisers. This is to reduce the already small risk of skin infection. Often superficial lines in the face are ‘highlighted’ in pink or red following treatment. This effect will settle within a few days

• Do not expose the treated area to intense heat (i.e. solarium, sauna or sunbathing) for at least 6 months, use sun block otherwise you could end up with pigmentation

• If you are using aspirin, blood thinning medication or similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising or bleeding at the treatment site.

• You can expect the treatment area to be sore and red for a few weeks, following the treatment, after 7 days the scabbing will start to fall off and there will be flaking, itching and pink skin. This is the nice new skin that is tightened. DO NOT PICK THE SCABBING OFF or rub the treatment area as you may scar and also could induce infection. AVOID SMOKING DURING THE HEALING PROCESS

• We provide Dry heal serum as its cooling and very soothing, use on the treatment area daily as needed

• Eat a really clean diet, fresh fruit and vegetables for 21 days during your healing phase and you will give your body the best chance to give you a fantastic result.

• You can get the area wet when you are bathing but do not soak in water, just pat dry and leave to air.

• Wearing makeup – please do not use brushes or sponges on the treatment area if you are using concealer as they can harbour bacteria and cause infections. For the first week cover with Sterex concealer if needed as it is medicated, try to leave the area without makeup and just put dry heal serum on. Aloe Vera is fantastic for healing skin and to stop scarring, and Olive oil, these two ingredients can be put onto the skin from the start of the healing phase. Please do not pick, we all know it’s tempting to pull the dry skin off, please refrain as this is an important part of the finished result and you could prolong the healing time and scar possibly if you do pull off the scabs.

• Wear sunblock after the scabs have fallen away even indoors on grey days, to stop the area pigmenting. Use an SPF 50 at all times for at least 6 months following the treatment.
